Support
The app also includes offline help in Settings → Using Shellkite.
Connecting
What do I need to connect to a server?
The server’s address, SSH port, username and an authentication method from its administrator: a password, a private key, or server prompts such as a one-time code.
Shellkite says the server identity changed
Shellkite stops before sending any credentials. Cancel and ask your server administrator whether the host key was replaced. Compare the SHA-256 fingerprint through a separate trusted channel. Shellkite never replaces a remembered key automatically.
Why did my connection close when I left the app?
Terminal and file connections close when Shellkite goes to the background. Reconnect when you return; earlier input is not sent again.
Files
How do I replace a file on the server?
Choose the files to upload, then Check destinations. Replacing an existing file needs an explicit choice and server support for atomic replacement. If the server does not support it, upload with a different name.
An upload was interrupted
Reconnect to Files and choose Check remote files before trying again. Shellkite checks the destination and the temporary file, and only removes a temporary file it has verified.
Keys
Which key files are supported?
Generate an Ed25519 key, or import an OpenSSH Ed25519 or RSA private key (2048–8192 bit). Encrypted OpenSSH files use bcrypt and AES-256-CTR. PEM, PKCS#8 and PPK files are not supported. Add the public key to your server yourself.
I am changing devices
Saved passwords and private keys are device-only and do not move through backup. Export an encrypted private key backup first and keep its passphrase separately. After restoring, enter passwords again, reimport keys and verify server fingerprints again.
Shellkite Pro
What does Pro include?
Pro is a one-time purchase that adds unlimited saved servers, up to eight live terminals, two terminals side by side on iPad, snippet editing and insertion, and four extra terminal themes. The free version includes one saved server, one live terminal, SFTP, key management and app lock.
How do I restore my purchase?
Open Settings → Pro and choose Restore purchases with the Apple Account that bought Pro. A pending purchase, such as one waiting for Ask to Buy approval, unlocks Pro only after approval.
Your data
How do I delete my data?
Settings → Delete all local data removes servers, saved credentials, snippets, settings, diagnostics and temporary files from the device. Remote files and exported copies remain. See the privacy policy.
